At the age of 15, I started my carpentry apprenticeship in Kingscliff and have continued to thrive in the industry for 48 years.
I have been building in the Tweed and Byron Shire for 48 years. My work has always been about quality and honesty. A few years ago now i retired on the tools and to be honest, was planning on retiring altogether (after i had helped one of my young employees thrieve out on his own as a builder). But in such a small community, it shocked me with how poor relationships and communications was between builders, trades, supplies and clients. So because im so passionate about people and the building industry, i have continued to be a building consultant, and my favourite thing is drafting plans, i love to put people's ideas down on paper, i will always tell you what you can and can not afford as i feel this is where things become overwhelming for everyone. Im a hard worker and not shy of difficult conversations if my clients are not being looked after the way the process should be. Building or renovating does not have to be so stressful or confusing. You just need someone like me who can explain things in simple terms. My wife and I have raised 3 beautiful daughters, so my communication and negotiation skills are high lol.
